Andrew graduated from QUB School of Law in 1993 and qualified as a solicitor in 1995, following completion of the post-graduate IPLS course. Andrew has specialised exclusively in criminal law throughout this career.

He has undertaken cases at all levels, from representation at police stations through to Magistrates Court, Crown Court, Court of Appeal and House of Lords.Andrew has also appeared before the Parole Commissioners in respect of life sentence reviews, extended custodial sentence reviews and parole breaches.

He has also undertaken judicial reviews in a number of areas as a result of his criminal law work. Andrew has also completed the National Institute of Trial Advocates as an advanced advocate, as organised by the Law Society of Northern Ireland.

Andrew has dealt with a full calendar of offences ranging from road traffic through to murder, terrorism, serious sexual assault and proceeds of crime.
