Chris Kinney

Chris graduated in Law from Queens University Belfast in 2014. He completed his post graduate degree at the Institute of Professional Legal Studies and qualified as a Solicitor in a general practice firm in 2016 before joining Donnelly & Wall Solicitors in 2019.


Chris principally works within the Matrimonial department, developing the area of specialisation within the firm. He frequently advises on divorce, separation and ancillary relief, dealing with financial arrangements for the family. He also deals with Children Order matters, such as contact, residence or specific issue problems, along with representing families in cases where Social Services have become involved, dealing with Public Law Orders such as Care Orders or Freeing for Adoption. Chris was appointed to the Law Society’s Children Order Panel in 2019.

Chris had previously worked as an Insurance Litigation specialist, where he regularly advised on private client matters, road traffic accidents and general litigation proceedings on behalf of both Plaintiff and Defence. Chris has experience in various courts across Ireland and has extensive knowledge of law and procedure.

Chris has been a committee member on the Northern Ireland Young Solicitors’ Association (NIYSA) since 2014, when he was appointed as the IPLS representative by his colleagues. Chris continues to sit on the committee and was elected as the committee’s Chairman in 2019. Chris was also elected to the Council of the Law Society of Northern Ireland in 2019 and sits on a number of committees as a council member.

Chris has received recognition from his clients not only for his knowledge but also for his approach to assisting in a sensitive, straightforward and friendly way.
